시편(Psa) 37편
7. 여호와 앞에 잠잠하고 참고 기다리라 자기 길이 형통하며 악한 꾀를 이루는 자 때문에 불평하지 말지어다
7. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
8. 분을 그치고 노를 버리며 불평하지 말라 오히려 악을 만들 뿐이라
8. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9. 진실로 악을 행하는 자들은 끊어질 것이나 여호와를 소망하는 자들은 땅을 차지하리로다
9. For those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.
10. 잠시 후에는 악인이 없어지리니 네가 그 곳을 자세히 살필지라도 없으리로다
10. A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found.
11. 그러나 온유한 자들은 땅을 차지하며 풍성한 화평으로 즐거워하리로다
11. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.
16. 의인의 적은 소유가 악인의 풍부함보다 낫도다
16. Better the little that the righteous have than the wealth of many wicked;
17. 악인의 팔은 부러지나 의인은 여호와께서 붙드시는도다
17. for the power of the wicked will be broken, but the LORD upholds the righteous.
18. 여호와께서 온전한 자의 날을 아시나니 그들의 기업은 영원하리로다
18. The blameless spend their days under the LORD’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever.
19. 그들은 환난 때에 부끄러움을 당하지 아니하며 기근의 날에도 풍족할 것이나
19. In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
20. 악인들은 멸망하고 여호와의 원수들은 어린 양의 기름 같이 타서 연기가 되어 없어지리로다
20. But the wicked will perish: Though the LORD’s enemies are like the flowers of the field, they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.
21. 악인은 꾸고 갚지 아니하나 의인은 은혜를 베풀고 주는도다
21. The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously;
22. 주의 복을 받은 자들은 땅을 차지하고 주의 저주를 받은 자들은 끊어지리로다
22. those the LORD blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be destroyed.
23. 여호와께서 사람의 걸음을 정하시고 그의 길을 기뻐하시나니
23. The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him;
24. 그는 넘어지나 아주 엎드러지지 아니함은 여호와께서 그의 손으로 붙드심이로다
24. though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the LORD upholds him with his hand.
25. 내가 어려서부터 늙기까지 의인이 버림을 당하거나 그의 자손이 걸식함을 보지 못하였도다
25. I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
26. 그는 종일토록 은혜를 베풀고 꾸어 주니 그의 자손이 복을 받는도다
26. They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be a blessing.
27. 악에서 떠나 선을 행하라 그리하면 영원히 살리니
27. Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.
28. 여호와께서 정의를 사랑하시고 그의 성도를 버리지 아니하심이로다 그들은 영원히 보호를 받으나 악인의 자손은 끊어지리로다
28. For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed ; the offspring of the wicked will perish.
29. 의인이 땅을 차지함이여 거기서 영원히 살리로다
29. The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.

욥기(Job) 29장
18. 내가 스스로 말하기를 나는 내 보금자리에서 숨을 거두며 나의 날은 모래알 같이 많으리라 하였느니라
18. “I thought, ‘I will die in my own house, my days as numerous as the grains of sand.
19. 내 뿌리는 물로 뻗어나가고 이슬이 내 가지에서 밤을 지내고 갈 것이며
19. My roots will reach to the water, and the dew will lie all night on my branches.
20. 내 영광은 내게 새로워지고 내 손에서 내 화살이 끊이지 않았노라
20. My glory will not fade; the bow will be ever new in my hand.’
21. 무리는 내 말을 듣고 희망을 걸었으며 내가 가르칠 때에 잠잠하였노라
21. “People listened to me expectantly, waiting in silence for my counsel.
22. 내가 말한 후에는 그들이 말을 거듭하지 못하였나니 나의 말이 그들에게 스며들었음이라
22. After I had spoken, they spoke no more; my words fell gently on their ears.
23. 그들은 비를 기다리듯 나를 기다렸으며 봄비를 맞이하듯 입을 벌렸느니라
23. They waited for me as for showers and drank in my words as the spring rain.
24. 그들이 의지 없을 때에 내가 미소하면 그들이 나의 얼굴 빛을 무색하게 아니하였느니라
24. When I smiled at them, they scarcely believed it; the light of my face was precious to them.
25. 내가 그들의 길을 택하여 주고 으뜸되는 자리에 앉았나니 왕이 군대 중에 있는 것과도 같았고 애곡하는 자를 위로하는 사람과도 같았느니라
25. I chose the way for them and sat as their chief; I dwelt as a king among his troops; I was like one who comforts mourners.
